๐ŸฆดArchaeology

Learn about the Archaeology system.

๐Ÿบ Archaeology System

The Archaeology System is a large-scale progression system that integrates seamlessly into core gameplay. By performing normal activities such as digging, woodcutting, hunting, and mining, players can uncover ancient resources, artifacts, and relics that unlock exclusive rewards.

Each archaeology branch follows the same design philosophy:

  • Use a specialized tool or infusion
  • Perform a natural gameplay action
  • Discover rare archaeology drops
  • Trade them with a dedicated NPC
  • Progress toward pets, cosmetics, heirlooms, and currency

๐Ÿ˜ Hunting Archaeology (Safari Hunting)

Overview

Hunting Archaeology โ€” also known as Safari Hunting โ€” is the wildlife-focused branch of Archaeology. It sends players into Elysium, Olympus, and the Resource World to track down animals in natural biome-appropriate locations.

Safari Hunting is still an exploration-based system. Players need to travel through the right regions, watch the terrain around them, and find animals in places where they can safely and naturally appear.

๐Ÿฅฉ Safari Hunting: Bait

Bait is a way to track down the main huntable Safari animals. Using bait creates a temporary scent around you that can attract a specific type of Safari animal nearby.

The scent is strongest when first used, then slowly weakens over time. Early spawn attempts have the best chance of attracting an animal.

Bait does not spawn animals directly on top of you. Instead, it attempts to bring the correct animal into a nearby safe and natural spawn location.

This makes Safari Hunting more targeted and less random, without removing the exploration side of the system. You still need to be in the right world, the right biome, and have enough safe space nearby for the animal to appear.

Bait Types

Bait Target Theme
Grizzly Honey Bait Grizzly Bears Made with honey, drawing bears toward the sweet scent.
Lion Meat Bait Lions and Lionesses Fresh meat used to lure predators.
Antelope Salt Bait Antelopes A salt lick for grazing animals.
Warthog Mash Bait Warthogs A root mash that attracts foraging animals.
Elephant Fruit Bait Elephants A fruit bundle that draws larger herbivores.

๐Ÿงบ How to Get Bait

Bait can be obtained as a rare drop from the wildlife mobs found in the wilderness.

These wildlife mobs are separate from the main Safari Hunting Archaeology animals, but they connect into Safari progression by occasionally dropping bait.

Bait Dropped By
Elephant Fruit Bait Monkeys and Hippos
Lion Meat Bait Crocodiles, Snakes, Wolves, Penguins, Jellyfish, and Sharks
Warthog Mash Bait Boars, Alpha Boars, and Crabs
Antelope Salt Bait Armadillos, Buffalos, and Ducks
Grizzly Honey Bait Raccoons and Cave Insects

Main Safari Animals

The main Safari Hunting animals are the core Archaeology targets. These are the animals bait is designed to help you track.

Safari Animal Where to Look
Elephants Savannas, plains, and sunflower plains.
Lions and Lionesses Savannas, plains, and sunflower plains.
Antelopes Savannas, plains, sunflower plains, and meadows.
Warthogs Savannas, plains, sunflower plains, badlands, and wooded badlands.
Grizzly Bears Taigas, forests, groves, windswept forests, windswept hills, and snowy taigas.

๐ŸŒฟ Wildlife in the Wilderness

Players can encounter a wider range of animals and creatures while travelling through the world. These mobs are not the main Safari Hunting Archaeology targets, but they add more life to exploration and can still support Safari progression through bait drops, in-game money, and other small rewards.

Wildlife includes:

  • Monkeys
  • Hippos
  • Crocodiles
  • Snakes
  • Wolves
  • Boars and Alpha Boars
  • Armadillos
  • Crabs
  • Penguins
  • Buffalos and Alpha Buffalos
  • Cave Insects
  • Ducks
  • Raccoons
  • Jellyfish
  • Sharks

Some are peaceful. Some will defend themselves. Others are predators that make the wilderness less predictable.

๐Ÿงญ Biome-based Spawns

Wildlife appears in more natural locations based on where each creature belongs.

Region Wildlife to Look For
Jungles Monkeys, Pythons, Crocodiles, and Hippos
Swamps and Rivers Hippos, Crocodiles, Ducks, Raccoons, and Pythons
Forests and Taigas Wolves, Boars, Raccoons, and Grizzly Bears
Savannas and Plains Elephants, Lions, Antelopes, Warthogs, Buffalos, Hippos, Armadillos, and Ducks
Deserts and Badlands Armadillos, Rattler Snakes, and Warthogs
Beaches and Shores Crabs, coastal crocodiles, and coastal wildlife
Oceans Jellyfish and Sharks
Snowy Biomes Penguins and cold-region wildlife
Caves Cave Insects

Hunting Deeds

Hunt main Safari animals in the wilderness to collect special mob drops, then turn them in to Hemet Nesingwary at spawn in exchange for Hunting Deeds.

Hemet rewards Hunting Deeds, which can be exchanged for:

  • Baby wildlife pets
  • Cosmetics
  • Furniture
  • Currency
  • Consumables
  • Heirlooms

These exchanges are repeatable and designed for long-term grinding.

โ›๏ธ Mining Archaeology (Geodes & Gemstones)

How It Works

Raw Geodes can be cracked in-hand to reveal a hidden gemstone inside:

  • Tungsten (Common)
